I’ve downloaded the sample, very nice encode indeed, well done FLAWL3SS! No sign of the bad ivtc from others, IMHO very watchable! The preview Secretmyth sample is pretty nice too, probably lacks the rich colour saturation of this one at this stage…but they ain’t finished yet, so still looking forward to seeing the finished product. :D

this one looks to be the best out of the bunch and the problems where fixed so this one it is enough waiting to see another 20 releases from 5 groups that will be proper this and super proper and what ever other name they come up with. I think they screw up on purpose sometimes so they can be the first one and then release other versions just to get everyone all hyped up but no surprise as this is the one every was waiting for and the internet still works it was not brought down after this release so we passed another year 2000 without a hitch know just get past 2012 and we will be good until Avatar 2 comes out of course maby 2013.

Okay so here is some info on quality…

Pocahontas…. horrible quality, chopping playback.
Imagine… possibly the worst encode they have ever done. If you want a seizure be sure to get imagines version.
Mention… lacks color but has smooth playback. One glitch at 0m59.42s.to.0m59.50s.
Prism… great color but the playback is horribly choppy like imagines.
Noir… Noirs is better quality video with brighter colors than mentions. It still has the glitch at 59.42 seconds just like Mentions, but it doesn’t seem to be near as bad.
Vision… DING DING DING DING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have a winner folks. Hands down the best so far. Biggest resolution, ac3 audio, bright vivid colors. Does have the glitch at 59.42 as well.
Flawless.. I haven’t bothered to download this one. After downloading and reviewing 6 versions I’m sticking with Visions. I’ve never seen Flawless do a better encode than Vision either, but they are still a excellent group and I’m sure their release is almost just as good.

So at this time VISION has the best copy IMHO.

Stay far far away from the Pocahontas, Imagine, Prism versions for sure. Horrible dupe frames and choppy playback on all except for Mentions and Noirs and VISIONS.

This version looks like it has the dark light issues to me, as the sample looks a little too dark…

I initially got the original Imagine release with the choppy playback and although it wasn’t perfect I was kinda happy in the fact that a group would release a gold version shortly…

Gotta admit that it was terrible encoding from imagine, For me Vision has fixed the stutter problems, sharpened up the blur and contrast flicker… (Thats all it Needed) Job done…

Anything else from there just isn’t gonna be worth the time or hastle, in fact it looks like this release actually managed to take a step backward…

After watching the sample of the Flawl3ss rip, I can see why Vision’s lightened and dull rip looks better. The darkening and coloring that Flawl3ss did just made the imperfections in the source look more obvious.

I think any of these latter versions are probably OK. The differences are probably not that great and rather than get all worked up on what to chose, just pick one.
When a new source comes out, then that’s a different matter. I downloaded the Imagine V2 and that looks Ok to me. It’ll suffice till a new original source come out.

Vision > Imagine V2

Take a look at the warning images at the start and see all the horrible edge artifacts created by Imagine’s image sharpening. Overprocessing a poor image is like trying to paint a turd.

I’ve watched this completely now & it is a very nice job with the colours etc but as some others have said the fade to blacks really have been stuffed completely; this doesn’t detract from the movie too much but it is a bit irritating! Thankfully the old jerkiness is mostly gone though, just a couple of glitches but the rest is, pardon the pun, flawless! ;)

@jo, if your copy is fooked then you must’ve got it from a dodgy source or you fooked it; coz it’s working fine for everyone else apart from the problems mentioned above! ;)

This would be the best quality release yet if it wasn’t for the annoying smart brightness filter they used. Turned pitch black into grey & became painfully annoying during fast changing scenes. Saturation was also a bit much resulting in animation to be obvious instead of a blurred reality. Other than that, I’d recommend this version because the detail is beautiful.

If you haven’t downloaded yet, I recommend you download Vision’s release & just turn up the saturation & contrast a little & turn down the brightness. The quality will probably be just as good as this one.

Well, I just saw Avatar this morning, one of the press premieres which are running on these days. My opinion: you’ve seen this story a hundred times, but never like this. Finally 3D is what it’s supposed to be, an instrument at the service of the movie. You’ll enjoy the visual experience, no doubt.

As for the story, some of the “inspirations” are so huge and so obvious that mentioning two or three of them would REALLY ruin the movie for you, and I’m not willing to do that. Lots of mysticism and ecology, if you like that stuff. If you’re 15 or so, you’ll have a great time thinking that it’s the first time somebody makes something like this. If you’re an experienced movie watcher, better leave your skepticism at the door, bring lots of pop corn and enjoy with the usual action-flick-with-moral-and-loads-of-clichés.
