This must be cropped. How can AR be 16:9 when originally it was 2.35:1?
2.35:1 is the original cinema aspect ratio, you dont get that at home
well, you do, but only on the newest tvs built in that shape and size
8.5GB each, or 8.5GB for the entire 6 films? That would mean they’re “xvid” size…. I’ll stick with the DVDs for the time being. Thanks for uploading thou!

You have the right to complain about the quality. You have the right to do not like cropping, but dont be the children and first see before you judge.
After all, sceptisism is the greatest enemy of PROGRESS.
You can argue all you want facham, 2.35 it’s not 1.778 period. Once you pan & scan something part of what was shoot is no longer there and the DP vision get’s changed, that’s why it sucks. Also any decent player has the option to pan & scan on the fly, so why bother changing it?
You just irreversible trash part of the frame and looses overall quality while doing it due to the fact that you’re stretching the the whole thing to make it fit.

You can be as diverse as you like. But you haven’t reframed any shots so that they work better. You’re not a cinematographer. I’d argue that it’s actually worse than Pan & Scan, since you have apparently made no effort to centre any of action. Your cropping is completely arbitrary. If you like it, great. Hell, some people like to eat cockroaches. Just be aware that it may not be palatable to the majority.
And for the record, all you’ve done is release some movies. It’s not a political movement or great jump in social progress. Get over yourself.

Your mistake is because you do not see the whole picture. We usually do not watch the movies in original resolution. Our monitors have the resolution much bigger and in Full screen the picture is zoomed and the picture is blurred.
I have carefully studied all aspects of video quality and choose the best for cropped image.
Better quality still won’t bring back the missing image.
Have you considered using also mono sound? Or cutting the framerate to half 12fps? With these modifications you could easily increase the so called image quality.

1. cutting something out of an artists work IS hateful. besides its pretty obsolete, we are not in the 80 when all tv channels crop everything to fullscreen, there is an EVOLUTION in technic and perception. nobody wants to go back to the stoneage.
2.this is obviously a work of an amateur (not fachman=german for a pro). no sane person would take a 720p resolution with your bitrate, BECAUSE IT LOOKS LIKE MUD.
3.dont bitch about individuality. you castrated it with you castrating artwork or like terry gilliam once said “have a little respect for what you’re pirating!”

just admit it, the pic looks like sh!t because your resolution is way too high for the bitrate.
there is a reason why they are encoding rules, to maintain a certain quality.
and you wasted even more space with the 5.1 audio.

Well if I would have used this guide then I would have agree with you that the pic would look like shit with this bitrate. Someone has put a lot of work in this instruction, (which I admire), but does not have a clue how to efficiently use the low bitrate. Unfortunatelly for you which I doubt even tested my work, I am using myself developed commpression method and the quality is not so bad. Of course it could be better, but we must wait for Bluray release, to achieve Matrix Trilogy level.
Apparently my work is not for you, because my audience requests for cropping and this is what I will do, so please spare yourself the time and do not download my releases. There are plenty of noncropped with your desired bitrate level releases. Pleasure yourself with your taste and do not tell others how their taste should look like, because if you do you will treat them like peasants, who are not allowed to have their own taste, but instead should copy their masters. Ok, boss???
