Virtual pet products are a dime a dozen on Nintendo’s DS, but the genre’s never really gotten started on the company’s consoles. There are a few scattered options here and there, like Activision’s Puppy Luv and the recent WiiWare release My Aquarium, but overall it’s still an open market. Purr Pals is Crave Entertainment’s entry into that space, and arrives as the first virtual pet game on Wii to allow you to own and interact with cats and kittens. Unfortunately, though, it’s a below-average effort that likely won’t be the game that inspires any greater growth in this unserved segment of the Wii’s library.
