    can somebody pls provide some more info in this encoding method instead of just dissing it like newfags? (we all know there’s been a 720p Bluray release by SEPTiC ages ago so stfu…)
    the screenshots look really well for a 1.5GB encode, i wonder how well it copes in the fast-motion scenes…

    I suppose the reason for this release is that the previous rip was from an HD-DVD source, and the Blu Ray release has recently dropped.

    nie przejmuj sie takimi głupimi komentarzami, oni tutaj zawsze trollują i próbują narzekać na darmowe filmy … wiem że chcesz poprostu pokazać innym że da się skompresować lepiej niż robią to scenowe grupy jak septic czy inne gdzie film trwa niecałe 2 godziny i waży 6,49 w .mkv no fakt że ma DTS ale ja nie chce żadnego DTS, jak bym chciał DTS to bym se oryginalny m2ts ściągnął 50-cio GigaBajtowy. Miałem tą wersję filmu jakiś rok temu z piratebay ściągnąłem i bardzo mile byłem zaskoczony jakością, choć troszkę było ziarnisto ale jak na 1.5 giga i tą rozdzielczość to świetnie. A ten co linki podaje to taki troll z pirate bay -jonny- którego zdegradowali tam z VIPa na trusted za jego głupie maniery. Pozdrawiam !

    do not worry about such stupid comments, they always trollują here and try to complain about free video … I know that you want to just show people that can compress better than they do to scenowe group septic or other where the film takes less than 2 hours and weighs 6.49 in . mkv fact that it has no DTS, but I do not want any DTS, DTS and I want to se your original m2ts I downloaded 50-gigabyte CIO. I had this version of the film about a year ago from piratebay and downloaded a mile, I was surprised by the quality, but little was ziarnisto but as for the 1.5 giga and great resolution. But what links them to the troll with the Jonny-bay pirate-degraded that there VIPA on trusted with his silly manners. Yours!

    the SEPTiC resolution of 1280×528 gives the CORRECT aspect ratio of 2.35:1, while this piece of cwap has 1.78:1 aspect ratio, which is well off! so either you have cropped a lot of the picture out, or your have stretched it so that it’s wrong n cwap ;)

    I will give you boys and lamers an example which everybody should understand:

    Current scene releases are like American muscle car. It has enormous horse power taken from its huge engine and it consumes a lot of fuel. Of course it is fast like hell.

    My releases are like JAPAN small engine car packed with those super duper efficiency optimizers like VTEC, VVTI and whatever you imagine electronic extras. It is also fast like hell, but in direct competition he will loose to pure horse power derived from engine size. It is still much faster than similar cars and consumes only 1/3 of fuel than its bigger brother.

    My method is constantly improved. Its latest version has number 12 providing perfect bitrate management not only within frame, or movie, but for different movies put together on single DVD. Its like VTEC-infinite :) If you have downloaded something before It is worth a try to download this again to see the difference.

    The name FASM was derived from assembler efficiency. If you write something directly in assembler it is usually much faster and takes much less size, than the same thing in C, Java etc…
    It also means FAchman SoofMan :)

    You have 16:9 screen size because:
    1. I do not want to compete with other releases like SEPTIC. They have done great job and I have respect for them. There is no point in delivering something others have before.
    2. I have panoramic 16:9 monitor and I prefer to fill it with movie not black bars and I do not find anything so much important in those cutted scenes.

    You have a simple choice. Want the original Aspect ratio, download others work, want 16:9 download mine.

    Regards to scene members and disregard to lamers.

    No, because if you would crop 1280×528 to fill your monitor, you would receive 960×528 and only this would be oversized. As I have said, I am delivering something different.
    I would suggest to make screenshots comparision by yourself instead wasting our time.

    If you want 16:9 do like this:
    1. Download SCENE release in .mkv format. I used Planet.Terror.2007.720p.BluRay.x264-SEPTiC
    2.Play it in Media Player Classic
    3.Go to: View > Pan&Scan > Increase Size. Or just Numepad 9 (with Numepad Lock key on)
    4. Click on it until black bars will disappear
    5. You just screwed up aspect ratio of the movie but you will not have ANY black bars :)

    Which one is better??

    1. Original 1920×816 cropped to 1440×810(1440/16=810/9) and resized to 1280×720(1280/16=720/9), then commpressed and zoomed by display card to 1280×800, 1440×900, 1680×1050 or 1920×1080???
    2. Original 1920×816 resized to 1280×528, commpressed, then cropped to 960×528 and zoomed by display card to 1280×800, 1440×900, 1680×1050 or 1920×1080???
    3. Original 1920×816 resized to 1280×720(distorted picture), commpressed and zoomed by display card to 1280×800, 1440×900, 1680×1050 or 1920×1080???

    I prefer number one and I do not see anyone than me to deliver it in this way, so I had to do it myself :D

    IMHO, the answer is:

    The best is to watch original BluRay Disc on bluray drive, with Full HD LCD monitor 1920×1080 …

    You never should overcropped any movies, but i love your rips for great quality and such a small size. Everybody (90%) of people will do not like overcropped versions. Please rip movies by this FASM way and don’t cut them like a butcher ! ;)

    This is a good example that u can actually fit alot more quality into a 1.5 GB file. Xvid is just outdated and shouldn’t be in use anymore. But nobody should expect this to be the same quality as a proper 720p rip at 5-8 GB!!!

    I agree with the other posters that it isn’t wise to crop away parts of the picture! It would have been better to give the user the choice how he/she wants to watch the movie. Any decent video player have the option the crop the movie during playback (which results in the same expirience as your release) plus 528p even uses (a little) less bitrate than 720p.

    Maybe something around 1024*xxx would be more appropriate for your filesize, thou.

    Well people, thanx for all your input, but you are not right.
    Video commpression is not something you can understand by simple rules, it is rather choosing of the lesser of two evils ;-).
    I will give you the example:
    1. Does 1280×540 encoding would give slight better quality than 1280×720 at the same bitrate??? YES
    2. Can the 1280×720 even with initial lower quality look better than 1280×540?? YES!!!!

    To proove it to you I have prepared small comparision.

    In the first picture you will see the original HD DVD disk resized according to your suggestions to 1280×540 (Lanczos), then cropped to 960×540 (as you say good player can do to remove black bars), then resized back to 1280×720 (as the graphics card would do)
    Suprized to see that my encodes have better quality than original after your suggested moves????
    Do you know why is that???
    1. By downsizing the picture you have ABSOLUTE LOSS of detail.
    2. By commpressing the picture you DO NOT have to loose anything. It just depends on encoder, what and how much is lost.
    3. Oversizing the picture blurries the details, but you do it everytime you use Fullscreen.

    One of the reason my encodes have so good quality is because I use as the source exactly 79% of original 1080p pixels. If I would as you suggest keep the original ratio, my source would contain only 50% of original pixels. That would mean I decided to loose the detail at the very begining.

    Common people think out of the box. Every movie is prepared fo TV butchers :D

    2) Get FASM 16:9 cropped version

    My way (B) to watch hd-movies:
    1) Buy 1280×720 or 1920×1080 TV-screen
    2) Get SCEPTIC correct 2.35:1 version
    3) Enjoy

    Best way (C) to watch hd-movies:
    1) Buy the original Blu-Ray
    2) Get Full-HD TV-screen

    Do not forget that thanx to the cropping you require smaller TV and for example:
    1. Cropped 16:9 would give you the feeling of the size of TV 32″ on monitor 23″
    2. Cropped 16:9 would give you the feeling of the size of TV 42″ on TV 32″

    Black bars will just leave part of your screen unused.

    I am using in disscussion the arguments, you prefer to use your emotions as the argument. Sorry, but I can not keep up with this level of dispute.
    If you are really x264 dev I will tell you this.
    I am doing this in the way I wanted to be, because noone else has done it before and belive me there are many more people who share my point of view. If you can do it better please tell me how. If I am not worthy your knowledge tell this to others. I would be more than happy to give up my case and just go into the shadow, but so far I can not see any proof.
